I grew up in the 70's when there was no such thing as an Xbox or PS4 or whatever number they're up to.  There were only 7 channels on the TV and the only thing worth watching was Saturday morning cartoons.  What was a kid to do to keep sane?  Play outside with the neighborhood kids from dawn to dusk.  I was lucky.  I grew up in a great neighborhood in a terrific town.  There was a small mountain to climb next to the sand pit a few hundred yards away, a stream behind our house, we had a wonderful town lake to swim in during the summer. The town was small and flat so we rode our bikes EVERYWHERE!

I also had an amazing mom and even though she was a single mom she fostered my love for the outdoors and adventure. We made several cross country trips where I fell in love with National Parks.  After college I was able to do a lot of international travel. When the kids came I tried to instill a love of outdoors in them.  Now that they're all adults it's my time again!  Join me as I live my best life after the age of 55!

On a side note.  When I travel I try to find local coffee roasters to support. I enjoy taking in the atmosphere and watching the locals as I drink my coffee.  At the end of many of my posts I will highlight either a kind of coffee or the actual shop as a way to support these establishments.  There are local coffee roasters in all 50 states!  Google a few next time you travel.

This blog will not have advertisements on its pages.  I for one hate trying to read when there are ads every two lines and pop ups.  I have given up reading posts I find on Pinterest on the phone because the pop ups won't X out, I can't read the paragraphs or recipes without scrolling, scrolling, scrolling to find the next line I need.  "Ain't nobody got time for that" so I click away from those sites.  I would like you to be able to read, enjoy and be inspired without all that obnoxious fluff.  So distracting! On the other hand there are affiliate links.  I am not a big fan of the big box stores or online monopolies so I try to find links to mom and pop stores. If I can't find what I'm looking for I will use links to the big sites knowing there are every day people trying to make a living at the other end of some of those products.

As stated above, I don't put ads on my site or allow pop up ads.  If you enjoy this site please consider donating the equivalent of a cup of coffee.  Or even just a half.  I was going to ask to donate the next coffee mug that caught my fancy at the Dollar Tree but seeing as they just raised their prices to more than a dollar that idea is out the window. Bottom line, any donation would be truly appreciated.  God Bless!
